Urban Missions
Why would someone want to go into an urban environment?
It seems crazy that people want to go into an area filled with drug use, crime, gangs, and prostitution. But God loves the people in these situations. He wants them to come and know the love that only He can provide. An everlasting, unconditional love; one that people can not provide.
Beyond Gods love we need to stop the cycle that is so prevalent in an urban environment. We need to help create jobs that are willing to take on people coming out of prison. We need to be willing to give cheap housing until people get on their feet. We need to look at different ways to accept payments for services. We want people to feel like they are giving back to their community.
I want to help the community take their community back.

Community
Why should we as Christians care about community?
Community should be very important to Christians. Matthew 18.20 says "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." Jesus always talks about the community related to Christianity. As Jesus began calling his disciples, he did not call only one. He called twelve (Matthew 4.18 - Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.) Is there a parallel between his calling a group and us as Christians staying connected in a group?
Maybe we as Christians should step back and take a long look at the open source community and how they handle community.
